Social Media Strategy

What exactly are you focused on about your social media strategy? Some of the things that I am focused on in regards to a social media strategy are, expressing myself in a way that can be both productive and fun for anyone who comes across my social media platforms.  In other words, I try to focus on how I can share my thoughts and ideas in a way that doesn't provoke arguments or heated debates in the comment section (if there is any.) I try to focus more on how I can get people to react to my posts in a positive way rather than posting something that can anger people. For example, I love photography, so I try to post the most aesthetically pleasing photos that I can in order to gain a positive response from my audience. Can you name and explain some of the basic principles of a social media strategy? Some of the basic principles of a social media strategy are learning about your audience, and how to gain a following.  In other words, one of the most important things about cre...

Establishing a Positive Presence Online

First level of Reading The first paragraph talks about the importance of having a website or blog site to act as your "home base." This is due to the fact that search engines count links when doing a search. So the more links you have that link back to your website/blog, the higher it will rank whenever someone searches for you. The second paragraph talks about having a "home base picture" of yourself or of an avatar that you create for yourself. This is important because if you use a single image of yourself (or avatar) for any post, comment, or tweet, etc. that you make online can be easily linked back to you. As such, people will be able to recognize you easily.  Second level of Reading The main point of the first paragraph is to establish why it is important to have a website/blog that works as your "home base." Your home base should not be your Twitter or Instagram page but your own website so that you can link your various social media profiles to.  ...

Hashtags

What is the purpose of a hashtag? The purpose of a hashtag is to organize key words in order for people to easily find the topics that they are interested in. In other words, a hashtag is primarily used for people to highlight specific key words in order for others, who are interested in that particular topic to search for with ease. This helps to eliminate the traffic of unrelated posts, and to help connect people with similar interests, more effectively. For example, my friend who loves anything Harry Potter can use #HarryPotter to quickly search for any news, art, trivia, DIY ideas, etc. regarding Harry Potter. Without having to scroll through any unrelated posts.  What other information do you need to consider to better understand hashtags? Information that you should know when understanding hashtags is to know what is and isn't necessarily a "hashtag."  In other words, understanding and choosing words that qualify as hashtags is important. Not only is it important to...

Essential Questions about Digital Footprints

What is a digital footprint? A digital footprint acts as a kind of bibliography of sorts on every single thing that you post, tweet, comment, etc. on social media and anywhere online. In other words, a digital footprint acts similarly as a physical footprint. As it shows where you've been/done in the past. This can be used both positively and negatively, which is why you should always be wary of what you post. For example, my friend, who is pretty obsessed with social media, will post and occasionally comment on other people's posts. Her digital footprint is pretty big and can easily be searched by anyone who is on her friends list. I, on the other hand, only go onto social media in order to keep in touch with friends who live in different states and hardly take the time to actually post anything. So my digital footprint is relatively smaller by comparison. What is the purpose of a digital footprint? The purpose of a digital footprint is to record what you post, tweet, or com...

Preparing your Content for Social Sharing

Preparing Your Content for Facebook Sharing I understand "shaping Your content for Facebook" to mean crafting your Facebook post in order for it to have more meaning. In other words, understanding that Facebook is a social media platform that allows you to casually post your ideas to your friends and family. As such, you should also be mindful that random strangers can also see what you post, and you should be careful as to the type of content that is okay to be seen by the public and content that should only be seen by the people on your friends list.  An example of shaping Your content for Facebook would be my friend who wants to invite her friends and family members to her birthday party. The easiest way to do this would be through Facebook where she’s friends with everyone she wants to invite. However, before she hits the “post” button, she double checks to make sure that her privacy setting is set for “friends only” meaning that only the people she’s “friended” will be...
